Well, the kids have been after me to get them one of those new Dunkin’ Donuts Hot Chocolate Coolatas but since the nearest Dunkin’ Donuts is 20 some-odd miles away, I got creative. I am NOT sure if this tastes like Dunkin’ Donuts version because I have never tasted it, but the kids love it!
We had a jug of Chocolate Milk in the fridge (a rare summer treat) so I used that as a base, but you could make chocolate milk first if you wanted to from regular milk. This makes 3 servings, filled my blender right to the brim!
Ingredients
2 cups of chocolate milk
2 packets of hot cocoa
3-4 cups of ice
Instructions:
Put 3 cups of ice in the blender, I just added ice to the 3 cup mark (roughly a 3rd of the way up my blender)
Mix the milk & hot cocoa together in a large measuring cup or pitcher until combined (this took a few min, hot cocoa powder is hard to blend into cold milk!)
Pour HALF the milk mix over the ice & blend. When it is pretty well mixed add the other half of the milk & blend again. Check consistency & add more ice if needed, I added another handful because we like our smoothies thick.
Pour, top with whip cream & sprinkled chocolate if wanted & ENJOY!
