Well it has been 11 days since starting my new healthy living/weight-loss plan. So far I have not lost any weight but I am feeling more energetic! I have not got my walk/run in this week yet, but I am going to shoot for tomorrow afternoon! I have been doing a rather crappy job at recording my meals with Spark People but I am hoping to get that up to snuff next week when I finish updating my laptop programs. I have been getting some extra exercise in with all the heavy cleaning I have been doing this week. The downstairs bathroom is finally just the way I want it, with the cupboard area tidy finally! The Laundry Room is getting there, I still need to work on the cabinets, there are a few things that just don't work well in there! I took of the closet doors, big huge sliding, solid wooden doors, so that I could clean in the closet good, get the floor cleaned. Well when I did, it hit me, THAT was what was wrong with the room! The darn doors were making the room feel small and crowded! So I lugged the doors out of the room and DH put them down in the basement. Now the closet is open, holds the laundry sorting hamper and the room has a completely different feel.
Much in line with making myself healthier and feel better I want my home to be healthier and feel better too! We are purging all the chemical based cleaners and swapping them out for more natural based cleaners. I am using Cancer Shmancer web site to check the ratings on the products that we have and replacing those that are receiving poor health ratings with something that receives a better rating. I have signed up for their Trash Cancer program and I have found their information very helpful. I was already working on taking a more natural route in my home and this is just another tool to help me along. I was happy to discover that most of the items we use in our house were on the plus side, getting high ratings. In order to make it easier on my family both financially and change-wise I am just changing out things as they expire/run out. DH will protest change of any sort if done on a large scale but by changing one product here, and than one there, the change is going unnoticed, which is just the way I want it. Eventually my family will notice that things are different but by that point there will be enough progress that I should meet with little to no resistance! It is like fighting a war, I have to plan each battle out, tactical plan it to the end! I am sure that the end results will be worth it!
The next room up for an overhaul is the kitchen, also in line with the getting healthy plan. I need to get groceries this weekend so I will be starting in there tomorrow, starting with the fridge. I am going to clean out the fridge, wipe it all down and than start writing my groc
I also have 2 recipes in the works that need to be made into videos. I am hoping to have one up tomorrow and one up on Monday.
