I created these wall hangings with spare boards from the pile in the basement, some buttons that were given to me in a BIG jar, Elmer's Naturals School Glue and a marker!
I started with the board, I sanded it until it was butter smooth, than rounded the corners with my sander as well. Each board took about 15 minutes of sanding to get smooth, there are 3 boards. Than I traced the shape I was going to make in buttons with a pencil.
Here is the glue I used (THANKS Elmer's glue for sending it to me!)
Here is the smiley face
The peace sign
And the heart
All three were done. I let them sit like this over night so the glue would dry.
I added the words, in English first... There would be more later!
I added more words, in French, Latin and Gaelic. Than I added 2 eye hooks to the top of each board a thumb width from the end (no ruler LOL) and than ran some plastic twine thru the hooks and hung them from tacks on the wall. It is hanging right above where the kids grab their coats and backpacks from every morning. It is a great way for them to start the day!
