Big Chef
Hi, I am Big Chef, better known in the real world as Jaci. I am a stay at home mom of 2 in a small farming community in Northern Maine. I am a self taught cook, I like to experiment in the kitchen and come up with new dishes all the time. I decided that it was time for my kids to start cooking with me and that it would be fun to chronicle our adventure with a website. (And yes, my hair really is pink!)
Little Chef
Meet Little Chef, 6yr old Melonie. A bundle of kinetic energy on legs, she never stops moving, talking, dancing or bouncing from the time she gets up (6am) till the time she goes to bed (8pm) and gave up napping when she was 5mths old. So as you can guess keeping her busy is an effort! She recently discovered she likes cooking with mom so we came up with Cooking on the Fly together. She came up with our nicknames and is my 1st assistant (mostly because she LOVES to be in front of the camera!) She is also currently a Miss Van Buren Princess and a Miss Vacationland Princess!
Boy Chef
This is Boy Chef, AKA Devin. An 10yr old walking contradiction. He loves taking pictures but hates having his picture taken. He loves cooking but is a picky eater. He loves his friends but would rather play quietly alone in his room... you see the trend? He is my 2nd assistant because getting him to help out in the kitchen can be a challenge! He is going into the 5th grade this year, and I am not sure I am ready for that!
Daddy Chef
This is Daddy Chef, also known as James. We have been married for 10 years and now live in his home town on the Maine-Canada border. He is Bi-lingual (French/English) and sometimes forgets that I am NOT LOL! He is in charge of Dad's Bar and Grill.
Dad's Bar And Grill
Welcome to Dad's Bar and Grill! This is the screen porch at our house complete with 2 table and chair sets. The one on the left is our old kitchen table and the wood backed chairs go with it, it is from the 70's. The one on the right is a square table from a pizzeria that used to be here in our town, the previous owners of our house owned that pizzeria and had left the table in the basement. The multicolored chairs are made from wine casks and are leather and were also found in the basement! The grill is Daddy Chef's pride and joy LOL!
Seating at Cooking On The Fly
Dining at Cooking on the Fly is rather laid back! Currently the kids are learning how to set the table so we made these place mats for them. I took some beat up place mats that I had a whole matching set of and traced the plate, fork, spoon, knife and cup on so that they can set the table with out asking me a hundred times what goes where!
